Recovery is more than abstinence. Recovery is more than remission. Recovery is a process
of change through which individuals achieve remission from substance use disorder and
improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full
potential. Research demonstrates that recovery is not only possible, it’s probable. Most
people living with SUD will eventually achieve stable long-term recovery. Unfortunately,
not everyone has the same likelihood of moving from addiction to recovery. This session
will explore the critical steps in achieving stable recovery, the factors that differentiate
those who recover from those who do not, and how treatment courts can help.
